Spells are the focus of Strixhaven: School of Mages. Each of the highlighted schools represents one of the opposing color combinations of magic, with its own character and mechanics.
Five Elder Dragons created Strixhaven's colleges. Two color philosophies shape each institution, and "each college has two deans assigned to one color:
Lorehold: Lorehold is a history-focused college filled with passionate scholars, hard-working researchers, and adventurous adventurers.
Witherbloom: Witherbloom is a college where students draw strength from the essence of living organisms, whether that means enriching or abusing nature.
Prismari: Prismari is a theater and art college where students express themselves through magic.
Quandrix: Quandrix is ??a mathematics-focused institution where students “learn patterns, fractals, and symmetries to master the fundamental forces of nature.
Silverquill: Silverquill's students master the magic of words, from inspiring battle poetry to piercing arcane insults. The set also includes the Inkling and Fractal creature types, as well as the Lesson spell type.
Mystical Archive: The Mystical Archive is similar to the Masterpiece Series, except that the cards appear more frequently in the core set booster packs and have a greater impact on the Limited environment. A Mystic Archive card is included in every Strixhaven Draft and Set Booster, and at least three cards are included in Collector Boosters. Only formats in which they are already legal will be legal.
